Bombay Bistro South Lamar - Austin

I love this place! the men who work the reception as a host are so charming and the waiter too. I left when the A/c was down, but I didn't care? the food was excellent and the service delightful! I went a few times back because the older man is a joy to talk! so sweet! I really like the decor and the food! up in my book!

Honest review here. surprises me about their other reviews that are rated for this place. we have recently been dinning for the criticus and were not impressed. we have eaten indian food in many important cities in the usa and Europe. we love Indian food so we eat it often. the service was bad, the atmosphere was ok. the chicken tikka masala was very dry and rubbery. the garlauch naan was good, the masala was simply ok and not hot enough. below average and we did not appreciate their news channel report about tw at the bar during our dinner, which was annoying, loud and distracting. Anyway, we paid over $85 for 2 people and felt disappointed afterwards.

We ordered combo for 2 for dinner. the amount was good. it can be easily shared by 3-4 people. everything tasted really good. eating was fresh and hot. so far the best Indian restaurant in austin. highly recommended.

Now, I will be dared to stumble the most beautiful little bistro over a Friday night wah. when we entered, were we greeted by the host/possibly owner with open poor? either very friendly. my friend brand and I continued to drive the samosas, poppadom w/mango chutney, sizzling tikka plate, garlauch naan, peschwari naan, tikka masala and a corma every last dish was stunning. I ate something more than mark the owner has taken to know that I was? the new king? will be definitiw back.

Let me preface this by saying that I have had Indian food from top restaurants all over the world.... But in the end I would have to say my favorite Indian food by far comes from Bombay Bistro. The menu consists of mostly very traditional standards of Indian cuisine, without endless reinventions or adaptations of other dishes. I think that is what makes this place special. They are focused on taking the classics and perfecting them, rather than inventing new dishes inspired by Indian flavors like so many other restaurants in Austin. I live up north in Liberty Hill and will drive all the way down just for pickup. Almost every dish on the menu is well worth the drive.
