Huami - Auckland

Huami is finally introducing a modern vibe to Chinese dining in Auckland, which has been long awaited. Imagine a sleek and moody setting with black and neon red accents—there are no bright dining rooms filled with heavy white tablecloths and worn-out dishes here.

Really really recommend the bbq pork bun and slices juicy as hell and super flavourful. One of the best places in Auckland to go for yumcha/lunch in terms of food quality and ambience. <br/ <br/ Best to make a booking as they get quite full, particularly during weekends or holidays. Very fast and professional service too.

Loved the interior and ambience; the wait staff were very helpful and polite. The home made spinach egg tofu was to die for, the sauce was amazing and it was beautifully presented. The Hong Kong style noodles weren’t bad but considering the price, I expected something better. They reminded me of the Malaysian noodles that they sell at the UoA quad. I probably won’t come here again but it was a nice one off experience.

The Peking duck was tender with a wonderfully crispy skin, and the beans had the perfect balance of crunch and softness, which turned out to be the delightful surprise of the evening. The beef was also tender, and we found ourselves wishing we had more room to enjoy it. The flavors were definitely in the realm of haute Chinese cuisine; they were subtle and sophisticated, unlike the overwhelming tastes you often find in typical takeout. I will definitely be returning for more!

This is a fantastic place to check out! If you're looking for the classic yum cha experience, complete with dim sum served on carts and a lively atmosphere, then this might not be what you're after. However, if you're seeking something unique—a modern take on yum cha—this is the spot for you. The xiao long baos and truffle prawn dumplings were delicious, but my absolute favorite was the wok-fried radish cakes with XO sauce. They were the ultimate comfort food and brought back memories of home.
