Barbacane - Aubeterre-sur-Dronne

Very nice English pub atmosphere! Food: 4 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4

Arriving at 11:45 a.m., the service begins at noon. Our order is taken and the wait begins. Customers who arrived after us were served well before. So 1 hour to have the 2 dishes. 3 prawns with sweet potato puree at 6:50 p.m. and semi-cooked tuna (very small) with the same accompaniment, served barely warm at 19€50 Given the wait, I am not returning the dish for fear that it will come back not. A glass of Pomerol for €9.50, good but expensive and the price is not indicated, and a glass of house white for €3 but tasteless and of unknown origin to the waitress. Efficient waitress but cuisine that does not follow and is not quality for the price. All reported to the waitress, but no commercial gesture. Tourist place, the customer is a pigeon.

We arrived late and although the restaurant was full, the owners agreed to receive us. While waiting to have an available table, we took advantage of the billiards. We spent a very pleasant evening in this unusual place whose original decoration is superb. We ate well and were able to enjoy the terrace until late in the summer evening. Our group of two couples crossed the village and captured the sound of Barbacane music. We went by hoping for a breakfast. We all enjoyed a delicious soup of zucchini purée and ribbons of smoked salmon pasta. He was fresh and burning. The pub atmosphere was charming and animated even though the rest of Aubeterre this late November early December off season was sedative. A warm and friendly welcome, fine gourmet dishes and a very original setting. We had a good time. (Inaccurate on the map, this restaurant is more in the middle of the square.
