Willard's Bakery Products - Athens

This is the best bakery in the area. The donuts are delicious, but my favorite item is the Rosé-infused oatmeal cookies. Highly recommended - you should definitely give it a try.

Willard's donuts are amazing!! usually made fresh Monday Tuesday AM .. there fresh bread is also good.. They even make Subs .. a must try when in Athens!

Ahhhh mannnn these butter tarts are sooooo good. This little hole in the wall bakery is a family owned business on Highway 42 in Athens Ontario. I have to stop there every time I go through town just to get some of their baking. Not...good for my body but really good for my soul. Yummmm!

Perhaps they had an off day yesterday, but we visited them for the first time on Friday, October 10th, 2020. We ordered their Supreme Sub. The rolls were clearly not made in-house, as they seemed to be standard submarine sandwiches purchased from a grocery store. The meat was plentiful, but unfortunately not very flavorful. After my wife took a bite and passed the rest to me, we also purchased a package of 6 butter tarts with raisins. They looked like they were made in-house, but in my opinion, they were baked, frozen, and then thawed, resulting in a soggy and mushy texture. The pastry was so delicate that it fell apart when we tried to take them out of the package. Overall, it was a very unpleasant experience and we ended up throwing out the tart package. Hopefully, they just had a bad day and we will give them another chance in the future.

This bakery is one of the best I've ever been to. It's rare to find a paper bag filled with fresh, hot doughnuts these days, but you can find them here. I also tried one of their sub sandwiches after seeing a sign for them, and it was so good that I ended up getting more. Similar to many other places in Athens, this bakery contributes to making the main road a bustling area.
