El Basurero - Astoria

Fun restaurant near the Steinway station in Astoria. It is a rowdy restaurant where lots of people celebrate their birthdays and there's always live music...

Huge portion of arroz con pollo, but absolutely NO flavor in it and the chicken was DRY and rubbery.

The staff is absolutely lovely, and the ambiance is lively, but I just don’t see why anyone would eat here. The shrimp empanada had exactly one piece of shrimp, and the steak skewers were perfectly cooked but didn’t seem to have any seasoning at all. I would absolutely come back with the expectations of a sports bar, just to have a drink and watch a game, but please if you’re looking for Colombian food go to any of the numerous other Colombian restaurants nearby

Food is awesome. The staff goes out of their way to make you feel good. One of the best Colombian places in Queens.

Unfortunately we were given menus but not served nor were we greeted when we arrived. Parties who entered after us, however, were greeted and tended to first. The waitress looked right pass us even when I tried to get her attention (note there were not many people at the time). It was an unfortunate, unwelcoming experience for me personally. I will not return.
