Caldera Brewery - Ashland

The food was quite enjoyable, but the beer fell short of expectations. We sampled a few different types and were left unimpressed.

My wife tried a Pilsner and an Amber, while I couldn't resist ordering the Hatch Chili beer. The Pilsner was my wife's choice, but I went for a full pint of the Hatch Chili beer. It was cold and refreshing, with a pleasant warmth and a smooth pepper flavor. As a former home brewer with a few awards to my name, I can say that pepper beers are quite challenging to get right, but this one truly hit the spot! Moving on to dinner, despite having had a late lunch, we couldn’t resist the enticing meals being served to others. My wife opted for the Fish and Chips, while I chose the house burger, which comes with a half-pound patty, grilled roll, tomatoes, pickles, and lettuce. We both decided to upgrade to a side salad, and we were pleasantly surprised to find that the salads were not an afterthought! They were perfectly sized, loaded with fresh veggies and tasty croutons—kudos to the kitchen for those salads! My burger was cooked to perfection and tasted amazing, especially with the thick slices of tomato and crunchy pickles. My only minor complaint is that it could have used a little more mayo, but Kara quickly brought me some extra sauce, and combined with ketchup, it made the burger a real hit. My wife's fish was crunchy on the outside and moist inside, delivering fantastic flavor. We both polished off our meals with enthusiasm! To top off our experience, we were offered a complimentary Root Beer Float for dessert, but sadly, we had to decline as we were too full from the delicious beers and fantastic dinners. Overall, it was a great place with an inviting atmosphere!

Holy cow, fantastic service. Caldera was absolutely slammed with customers when we visited, but the staff was zipping around non-stop getting everyone’s orders. Outdoor seating is both dog and toddler friendly. Both the Rogue Valley Salad and the Ahi Salad were absolutely fantastic. We thoroughly enjoyed the stout, porter, imperial stout, and imperial porter. The new hazy IPA makes for a great session IPA; we hope to see it in Portland, OR.

Honestly, just kind of annoying. Burger was good. Excellent bacon.

Great beer selection. Wonderful staff. Spectacular views of the surrounding area. Indoor and outdoor seating options. Food options are excellent. We were offered a tour of the brewery and we were very impressed.
