The White Horse - Ashford

Incredibly cosy pub, particularly now it's winter and the large fireplace has a fire going! The pub feels almost a step out of time and place, a getaway from the rush of the everyday. The food was delicious; we had the roast, a burger, and the Christmas salmon, and a selection of puddings which were excellent. This is our second visit and we will certainly be back again!

I truly completely fell in love with this pub from the moment I stepped out of our car..then when I walked in it was amazing with massive log fire..food was fabulous..I had steak pudding with mash.

Great atmosphere with lovely locals and very dog friendly. Such a quirky little pub. Will definitely be back.

Lunched here, as I hiked along the North Downs Way. It's a 15th-century inn, which makes it quite modern for this ancient, picturesque village. Plenty of visitors around, so there was always a danger the pub might be in the wannabe gastro or rip-off category. But no: they served me a superb fish and chips lunch at pub-food price. It came up hot, meaning it was freshly cooked. Chips were big, soft, and potatoey. Fish had a smooth batter and was shaped like a flipper. Very rich and tasty. The pub had a Saturday lunchtime buzz--staff busy, with heads down. Essential stop for hikers.
