South Of Philly - Asheville

I was very disappointed with my experience at this restaurant. The place was unclean and the staff seemed unkempt. I ordered a Reuben, but it was just a small amount of chopped corned beef with a tiny bit of sauerkraut and a bit of Swiss cheese on two small pieces of barely warmed rye bread, topped with an unusual sauce that was neither Russian nor Thousand Island. It cost me $12! To make matters worse, there was a baby sitting on the floor in the dining area while what appeared to be a very young mother tended to the grill. Other family members were present too, all dressed in dirty clothes and looking quite disheveled. I can't believe the health department hasn't closed this place down! On the positive side, I will say that everyone was very friendly.

For a fast-food restaurant, this place was surprisingly good. Is it an authentic Philly cheesesteak? Not exactly, but it’s definitely better than chains like Charley's. It wasn't our original choice for dinner, but after discovering that our first option had a wait time of over two hours, we decided to give this place a shot. I was with a small group of six, and we all had a great experience. South of Philly shares an outdoor seating area with Jack the Dipper next door, and while we waited for our food, we enjoyed the delightful smell of freshly made waffle cones wafting over from next door. The prices were reasonable and the food was tasty. If you’re looking for a quick and uncomplicated meal, I recommend giving this spot a try!

Delightful experience with great good. I order wings and fries as a light lunch and it did the job. I WILL be coming back for more food from them in the future!!

Ordered a late night DoorDash one night and stumbled upon my new favorite spot in Asheville. Even waiting for delivery, the classic Phillies came warm and juicy and DELICIOUS. Got the seasoned fries and fried pickles on the side and enjoyed them both. Still arrived crispy. Enjoyed it so much, I came back the next day to try the chicken bacon ranch! Amanda helped me and was pleasant and quick with service, will absolutely return for more! Worth your money!!!

Alton took my order and was very pleasant and very patient with me when I couldn’t make up my mind. The food was awesome and cooked just like I requested.Would recommend to come and eat dinner, lunch.
