I noticed that when we came by last month and was so excited. the food was good and the staff was good. I think they need more help or maybe their hours with the staff they have so that the waiting times are not so long. it was our server first day and she did everything in order, so hopefully they will help more. I think the restaurant itself could update a little to be honest. it seemed really dark and sad in the inner. it's hard to explain, but maybe something outdated? I would probably just eat to the next time since the dark steakhouse restaurant vibe now depressed me.
We went to Fatz Cafe in Franklin for Mother's Day. First let me say the food was great. But what threw me was they had charged for every thing I had ordered. My steak I understand. But it suppose to come with 2 sides. Which I got sweet potato, broccoli, side salad and shrimp. My husband ordered off the mothers day menu. I didn't because it was all fried foods. Okay we get our bill. Mine alone was over 30.00. His was around 20.00 total bill over 50.00. They did redo the price of the salad which was 1.99.but why charge for each item. Did I miss something???
I went there to try the barbecue. I didn't hate it, but didn't love it either. The barbecue is Carolina style with a slight hint of vinegar and smoke. The barbecue wasn't anything special but was still good enough to eat without adding any sauce. Which had a good flavor. The ribs were fall off the bone cooked to perfection. Unfortunately, they don't have the flavor to match the cooking. Cornbread, and fried okra and nanner pudding are missing from the menu making this place a decent spot to grab a bite but not a go-to for good southern BBQ. To be fair, they're not trying to be. They have a lot to choose from that ain't BBQ and i don't think if them as a BBQ joint The portions and prices were fair for what I ordered. The staff was friendly, the place was clean, the service was great. I'll go back, but but for BBQ.
We had high hopes as this restaurant was billed as down home country cooking. However, our dishes were disappointing. The salmon was very overcooked and dry and the rice must have been plated and set under a heat lamp as it was a mushy glob. My husband’s onion rings were clearly over cooked, as was the chicken fried steak. On the positive, the appetizer of tater tots and fries smothered with Monterey Jack and cheddar cheese and topped with bacon and chives was very good. The peach cobbler had firm pieces of peach in a rich sauce and topped with ice cream. The service was extremely slow, even though there were few diners. The bill for appetizer, two entries, one dessert and two drinks was $78 with 20% tip.
Trying to be fair about my experience up here. Very few staff for the afternoon rush so things were slow. The fryers we're initially down when my wife and I arrived they told us but once seated (which took about 10 minutes) they were back running. We waited about 25 min after ordering before the food got to us. I did order the special for Thursday (all you can eat ribs). Very small racks and half rack portions. Fries were very fresh though. Let the waitress know I'd def need more ribs and she did put in the next 2 for me but still had to wait 15 min before they brought them. Food was good and the price was fair. Thankful to have lunch with my wife so the atmosphere was good too. So my only complaints are the limited staff at lunch and the slowness of food from the kitchen.
