Matchbox - Ashburn

We were seated in the back of the restaurant, near the staff office, at a small and unstable table. It seemed like we were placed there because we had children with us, even though there were plenty of empty tables available. The table was so cramped that there was barely enough room for our food, and our salads were served underneath our pizzas, making it feel like we were eating out of a shoebox.

This is the third time in about 2 months that we have been in matchbox. I swore after the second time that I wouldn't go back. but, gave him another shot. this time (Wednesday, 13th juli 6:30 a.m. 3 people) was worse than the 1st and 2nd we ordered our drinks to sit within 5 minutes. my wife ordered icy and when the drinks didn't come in ice; instead water. my wife decides to be in order with water. we waited 20-25 extra minutes to the server to take over our food order. I had ordered coleslaw instead of pommes. friends came with my command. it took 10 minutes to get coleslaw. it tasted old and sour. our enkelin order mini-burger (slider). we later found out in the evening that the burger was burned. the server did not ask how we wanted to cook them. I ordered an salate with her meal (half a chicken). the server did not ask what kind or let us know that it was a spinach salad. I had the **** cake sandwich. it was good, but far overpriced at $29. all three experiences were terrible. something happened with matchbox post covid. they have to bring them together. I will not return.

I enjoyed brunch with a dear friend here, and it was a wonderful experience. Our server was kind and attentive; she ensured we had everything we needed to enjoy our dining experience. The establishment was clean, the ambiance was quiet, and the food was excellent.

This is the second time this month at MatchBox after 2 years of COVID. The food is questionable at best. Menu selection is limited. And the Service needs to be improved. We were there for a birthday (13 year old). Before we ordered we let the server know about the birthday and asked if she could bring a piece of cake after we had eaten and could she put a candle on it. The server agreed. We ordered calamari and the giant meatball as a appetizer. The meatball was good but the calamari was overdone and we had to send it back. Before we finished our dinner and before any plates were collected from the table a food runner showed up with the b-day cake. We asked if he could bring it back when we were finished. During the dinner I asked for another beer and a refill on a lemonade. I had to ask 2 more times for the beer and the lemonade never came. The beer came too late to enjoy. Then when the piece of cake came there was no candle. The server said they ran out of candles last week. REALLY! Also, the food runner brought the wrong order to the wrong table twice. This lack of expected service is either a manager problem or the staff is not being trained properly. I will not go back.

Fly in drink, plastic on pizza, tables dirty, bar dishwasher broken.
