Milani House of Gelato - Ascot

Love the amount of different flavors as well as the flavors itself are pretty good. Presentations a bit plain but at least the taste is there.

After lunch at Thai Naramit I suggest we try the "famous dark chocolate gelato" at Milani. Dom who prides himself as a gelato connoisseur, eats gelato at every opportunity when he is home in Italy. In Brisbane he likes La Macelleria at Teneriffe. I could see the doubt on his face when I mentioned "famous gelato". So we arrive at Milani confronted by an array of beautiful gelato and sorbets. I remind Dom about the dark chocolate and he orders 2 scoops. I order a scoop each of dark chocolate and caramel macadamia. We sit at a table and I am savouring the best dark chocolate gelato ever. Super smooth creamy chocolate with a hint of bitterness. Simply superb! I look up and Dom has finished his first scoop in silence. Our eyes meet and he shakes his head saying the dark chocolate gelato is the best he has eaten in Australia and in his words "to die for"! Without hesitation I rate the dark chocolate gelato at 5.0! The caramel macadamia was nice (but pales in comparison to the dark chocolate) rates 4.0. And big thanks to Meatballs for recommending this gelateria!

Went for pistachio, dark chocolate, lychee and bailey flavored ice cream. Really smooth unique texture of ice cream, its unlike anything I've ever tried before. Really long queue but service was quite fast and overall it was worth the wait.

Milani House of Gelato's Dark Chocolate Gelato was recently named Australia's best gelato and was awarded the country's grand champion dairy product. With accolades like these, the Meatballs family just had to try it. Thus, we ventured north to Racecourse Road in Hamilton and waited in line with dozens of other families to try Australia's best gelato. The Dark Chocolate Gelato is worthy of awards - it was transcendent. Silky smooth and amazingly flavorful, the quality ingredients and passion are easy to discern when sampling this masterpiece. This rates 5 out of 5. We also sampled the Raspberry, Watermelon, Biscuit and Snickers varieties . The Raspberry and Strawberry were both very good, but I was suffering from serious gelato envy as my wife and daughter were downing creamier (and better) varieties. The Raspberry and Strawberry both had good flavor, but the seeds interfered with the texture for me. They were very good, but not great - they rate 3.5. The Biscuit was meant to be Tiny Teddy flavored. This was creamy and delicious and rated a 4. Mini Meatball was one happy girl. The Snickers was delicious. Rich and creamy with great texture. Lady Meatball took pity on me and switched cones with me so I could finish this off. The Snickers rated a 4.5. The Dark Chocolate Gelato is the best gelato I've ever had - in Australia, the US or Italy. We would return for this in a heartbeat. Unfortunately, not all of the flavors measure up, so it will depend on my mood where I go. I maintain that Milano Gelateria in Greenslopes has the best fruit gelato and La Macelleria in Tenerife has the most consistently amazing gelato - every variety we tried was 4.5.
