Al Pontile - Ascona

I came with my YPO Gold RF3 Forum members from Calcutta, New Delhi, Goa, Singapore, Dubai, Philippines, and Switzerland. We each ordered what we wanted to eat and I decided to start with the Parma Ham and melon, followed by a the rack of lamb,...and then the tiramisu. There was so much of the Parma Ham or was there not enough melon? But it was great and there was so much, I had to share it with the other people in my table. The rack of lamb was also perfect. No lamb taste, without needing mint to mask the smell and taste. Again, I had to share it with others because I ended up with five ribs. Finally, the tiramisu was to die for. It was terrific, but again, I had to share it with my friends. Then one of them ordered creme brûlée and I had the opportunity to try some of it. Wow!! It was terrific as well!! Great food, great service, great wine!! What else can you ask for!

I came late, around 21:00, I had to ask the waiter for a table even he walked 3 Times in front of me and saw that I was at the door waiting. When I was at the table, without give me any menu he asked...what I wanted to drink, I asked for the menu he just gave for food and not for drinks, I had to ask again, he mentioned 2 times first that kitchen was closed and second that “as kitchen was closing soon...” honestly I should just have left at this point . After that there was a lady taking care of my table, the service got better, but the food... what a disappointment again, I ordered fish selection with truffle, the fish was good selection but completely tasteless, I had to add salt and pepper which was not fresh again) to give a little flavor otherwise I could simply not eat that, I basically got so disappointed that I left almost everything on the plate. I would not return, would not recommend, can’t imagine how they had Michelin rates before. Very poor experience.

Good, high-quality cuisine... The wine list is aimed at rather expensive wines...
