This place has a great atmosphere with great food. You know it is good when the local business owners eat there as well.
Nice decorated restaurant in an open air environment. Decorations are colorful and pleasing to the eye. Food is absolutely delicious and service is excellent.
Made a reservation for 8:00 pm. When we showed up, at 7:55 pm, there was no host/hostess to greet us. Just a rude, dismissive man, who as he walked passed us with full hands, told us we could sit at any of the two tables available by the entrance of the restaurant. Spill over tables, next to the drinks station, behind the live music. His explanation for being rude was that he was short staffed. His opinion on the tables by the entrance of the restaurant “some people think they’re the best tables in the place” hahahaha. The solution, wait until another table becomes available. Where I come from that is called 1st come, 1st serve. The reason for the reservation was to get a table in the main dining room, not be treated so dismissively.
Reserved a table at La Providencia to cap a weeklong trip to Oaxaca and San Agustinillo. It was the best meal of the trip, better than the fine dining options we tried in Oaxaca. Here you had the freshest ingredients with original recipes, served directly from the kitchen. We had the mahi mahi with the tamarind sauce and the camarones a l’Africaine. Flavors and preparations were outstanding. The service was prompt and lovely.
