Doc Burnstein's Ice Cream Lab Arroyo Grande

Poor selection of flavors and they havent changed in 10 years. Ice cream is always nearly melted. Flavors are nearly all vanilla, very few additives, and not better than store bought ice cream. Highest prices anywhere.

Flavors are very boring. Mostly vanilla based with sparse ingredients like cookie dough, etc. Staff was really nice. Ran out of cones. Always out of something here. Ice cream always seems like it is partly melted when you get it here. Wanted to charge us another 1.75 for a waffle cone, which is really expensive when you are already paying almost 6 dollars for just a very small single scoop. Never offered any discount when they had run out of cones.

Only minus is they were out of strawberry ice cream but the person behind the counter advised adding strawberry syrup to whatever I was ordering so I did that. I got a rocky road sundae and it was delicious! My husband got a scoop of I'm not even sure what he settled on but he wanted strawberry so he was able to sample some other flavor and just went with a kid size scoop of that. There were plenty of places to park nearby on a Saturday night which was great because my parallel parking skills are non existent. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the inside of the place felt warm and homely. I just wish there was one closer to me!

The ice cream here is fresh and reasonably priced. They also have fudge sundaes and bans split!

This place has clearly seen better days, but it remains an iconic location. The staff is excellent, and the ice cream is outstanding.
