Food was amazing! From steak to salad everything was great The steak was delicate, tasteful and extremely fresh The salad was perfect: perfectly seasoned, at the perfect temperature and really tasteful. The frits and rice were also very good. I recommend the place.
This restaurant was a nice surprise after the walk on the Passadiços do Paiva! The speciality of this region is cow meat, so we order. The staff proposed Vitela estufada and grilled steak and we decided to follow his proposal. The Vitela estufada was the best I've eaten so far. The flesh melts in my mouth. Oddly. For the desert I ordered tiramisú and it was delicious. The room is spacious and the staff is super beautiful! Free parking available. Free Wi-Fi available. Closed on Tuesday. Reservation Telephone: 351 256 955 250 This restaurant is not cheap, I paid around €23, but it was totally worth because the food is really good! If you are in Alvarenga or nearby, do not miss it.
I have to write a review regarding this restaurant because I think most reviews are way too kind. 1. Is the beef/stake good? It is a reasonably good meat there are only two dishes available on the menu, stake and veal . 2. Does the quality...justify the prices charged? Not at all! You get slightly above average quality for gourmet prices. The steak is paid by weight, at €35/kg, with emphasis on the menu that the average is 500g !!! per person, just for the meat. 3. Waiters try not to bring the menu, with the excuse they have only steak and veal. Ask the menu for checking prices first! 4. You have no control on how much they charge you. The meat seems to be also specially heavy , compared to my previous experience on meat weight. 5. Not returning there I 'm afraid. I am also sure they will survive very very well without me. 6. Top score for the nearby trail Passadicos do Paiva. Only two stars for the restaurant.
On the way back to Arouca, from the Paiva walkways, this jewel of an ice cream came. My Portuguese is terrible, so we asked for a menu to which our host answered: "We make cow". We said, “Ok. Cow, a part and we will share it.” A short time later, about one kilo and half of the wonderful beef arrived. It came with fries, rice, salad and we also ordered wine and received the whole bottle instead of a glass. Not sure if the locals are big eaters, but the part for one was all two of us. The beef was prepared PERFECTLY. Call and succulents, seasoned and grilled by people who know how to do it. I love it!!!
