This restaurant was previously a military fort in Napoleonic times and sits on the side of one of the old alpine military roads. This means it attracts a wide clientele of walkers and climbers. We stopped there after a walk to the Tete Le Cou 3 hours round trip) and ordered a couple of courses and some wine. The food was very good if a little salt in some of the dishes. Excellent value at €7-8.50 a course. They do a panna cotta with anise and liquorice which is the best I have tried in Italy I do a lot of research). Overall a little gem of a place only let down by the salt.
Rooms from double en suite to small dorms. Very good food. Absolute calm amongst the chestnut forest. Good walks. Warm welcome. Very good value. A pretty 20 min walk up from the parking and the patron will come down in his 4x4 by arrangement.
We stayed here two nights, after the ascent to get there (it is recommended to carry luggage in the backpacks) seemed to enter a dream set in the Middle Ages. the location is simple, warm and welcoming, the girls are very organized, smiling and always ready to meet every request, even the needs of my children hungry of bis and tris at the restaurant! I absolutely recommend it! also nice visit to the village of machaby
