Mah-ze-dahr Bakery - Arlington

I think this place has changed. First time it was a nice experience. Now workers are just rude and mean. They don’t want to do their job. They don’t provide any good customer service. They didn’t even make my drink correct. The place is nice but customer service and drinks are a down fall. Also unless the workers were that rude who doesn’t have branded cups?? It was a cold hot drink as well.

Pastries here are pretty good! Especially the strawberry danish. The place is also super cute. The only bad thing is the staff. I’ve had multiple different experiences with staff giving me attitude for asking if theyre still in stock of an item and one time a staff member was texting on her phone while taking out order and didnt even look at me.

Tip: You should try everything! My personal favorites include the almond-mocha croissant, old-fashioned donut, seasonal ginger cookie, artichoke croissant for a savory treat, quiche, and the seasonal pies… there’s just so much to sample! I absolutely love the upstairs Brookfield location in the Financial District; it’s perfect for grabbing your food and heading out to enjoy it by the marina.

The coffee made from La Colombe beans was excellent, but the atmosphere felt quite corporate. I didn't try any pastries, to be fair.

It's disheartening because they offer delicious treats but provide customer service that feels subpar at best. In 2024, when many are discussing the high cost of living, it's surprising that they wouldn't want to engage with potential customers more actively. I used to enjoy their fantastic Watergate cake when they partnered with Gatsby. All I wanted to know was whether it could be special ordered now that they are no longer with Gatsby. Why is it so difficult to get a response? I genuinely wanted to support their business, but it feels as though they simply don't care. I wonder about their attitude—do they have something against certain groups of people, or is it just a lack of concern for customer service? Honestly, even if they were to offer the cake now, I don't think I could feel excited about it due to how upset I am with their indifference. It's frustrating to feel this way, particularly as they provide such tasty treats. Overall, it's a disappointing situation for a company that has so much potential.
