If you have never tried porketta, this is the place. We visited on a Sunday afternoon, we were greeted warmly. We sat in a large room with a large local family celebrating a birthday. The family welcomed us. We were served a platter of different meats including porketta, cheese and fresh bread together with cold red wine (yes! . After our meat sampling, we were served dessert wine with a delicious cookies to dip. Yum! This is a non tourist restaurant with authentic, delicious food. Restaurant is located outside Rome and is definitely well worth the trip. The restaurant is not fancy. The food is delicious. Must try the porketta. The service was warm and friendly. Enjoy.
Started off with an amazing variety of antipasti (prosciutto, porchetta, cheeses, grilled vegetables and so many other local delicacies) which honestly was already more than enough to fill our stomachs. I'm happy I pushed through though, because their fresh pasta carbonara was some of the best I've ever had. I'll be back!
We took a bus from Rome to Ariccia to find a NON tourist restaurant. We strolled through restaurant row and choose Osteria da Angelo. Is looked Italian, it smelled Italian and it was just that. We had a party on nine. EVERYBODY loved this place. The menu included all the appetizers listed (we kept trying to pick one) Porchetta plentiful, ham, salami and spicy sweet, beans with pork rind, mixed olives, Mozzarellina buffalo, Coppiette pork, dried sausages of pork; then we choose a fresh made pasta, First Amatriciana, Boar, carbonara, cheese and pepper, ravioli stuffed with pork with all homemade pasta. Dinner came with excellent house wine and dessert was homemade wine donuts. We met the owner Angelo that night, they were celebrating his 80th birthday. Great place!
