Gibson Inn Apalachicola

Beautiful historic hotel in the heart of Apalachicola. Lovely local stores within walking distance, a water view, and only a few minutes from Saint George Island.

I recently had a girls trip with 3 of my closest friends and we stayed at the Gibson and absolutely loved it! It was like stepping back in time and felt so cozy. The staff was amazing and friendly, they greeted us with a smile every time we walked in, and they quickly exchanged our golf cart when we asked for one with more shade and all forward facing seats, we also couldn’t get one of the air conditioners on and they were in our room within one minute and helped us figure it out! We had breakfast at the restaurant and loved it. The only issue we had was the smell in our room, to me it smelled like stale cigarettes but my friends said mold. All of our clothes were stinky when we left, not sure if that’s just an old building thing or if there’s a bigger issue, but either way we will definitely be back. We loved exploring the area on the golf cart and everyone we met was so friendly, a lovely area with lots of fun and unique shops!

So our room and every other room shown to us smelled like mold and the AC units had mold on them (photo included). The person working the front offered us paying a premium for a room that is more hypoallergenic and no mold. So do you have to pay extra to not have mold in your room? The idea of this as their business model is unacceptable. They only offered 5 dollars as a refund. Any other place that had mold would immediately offer a full refund. Please check your AC units for mold prior to staying here. After I sent photos of mold their refund offer was 65 for the trouble. Seriously this is a very disappointing place when she went to have her manager review and they offered a small percentage of the total to reserve a room here. The manager didn't even talk to us and only used an employee as a proxy.

The most delicious memorable dish I’ve had in the last 6-months was the Wedge Salad I had at The Gibson in March 2023. It’s unusual for such a simple menu item to be that good.

Such a charming hotel with wonderful service and amenities. The property is beautiful and so it this North Florida area. We love coming to visit Apalach and being able to stay at the Gibson is such a special treat. We can't wait to return... and see the new additions!
