El Papaturro

An amazing place. The family and I made shopping on the market around the corner when we decided to get food. Unfortunately, they looked closed. ...but this is when the owner (Eduardo, who walked randomly on the road, unlocked the door and offered us a table! ( Apparently he's closed on Mondays, but wanted to cook a meal for our family. Our son is taken over from Guatemala, and we later found out that he has a soft spot for families of international adoption. We tried the Pupusas and some chicken and pork dishes from the traditional Guatemalan menu. The food was delicious, but the conversation with Eduardo about what he saw in the last 28 years of running the restaurant was amazing. What a nice man with a heart full of love!

This is the best place in Antigua for a sit down meal typical of Guatemalan food. You can find other examples on the street or in the park by La Merced, but this El Pappaturro is excellent. We visited seven years ago and went again tonight; the owner remembered us from our one visit seven years prior. Amazing! I had the Acabador Antingueno best piece of pork I’ve had in years. The tortillas and guacamole that came along with the meal were delicious. They have great options for kids at a very good price for the portion. The owner was so kind with my children as well; excellent environment for families. I highly recommend visiting this establishment.

Main selections are Salvadorian. Sopa de la casa was tortilla soup, and was complimentary with our meals. Delicious. Pupusas as an appetizer came with cabbage and mild and picante sauces. Again, very rich and tasty. Flautas de pollo were crunchy and excellent. Too much to finish. Guatemalan typical meal was Lomito which was extremely tender and covered with included side of guacamole was amazing. Quite affordable and we plan to return.

Amazing food. We ordered several things from the menu and every single one of them was better then something similar you have previously had in your life. Amazing service. Very friendly. Our experience here was our favorite in Antigua! So glad we stumbled upon this place! Fantástico comidas. Muy muy muy rico!! Muchas gracias!!!!!

I enjoyed their food, I mainly came here to try pupusas, it's a dish from Salvador and they were very good. On the second picture you can see the pi.iento relleno dish
