Contribuiți la feedbackWe had a lovely experience, the food was absolutely amazing, the staff was so helpful and friendly. My partner and myself chose different dishes for each courses so we could experience as much as we could. We started off with breads and olives and a bottle of red wine but our starters came out so fast, one after the other, I was a little bit annoyed because my plate that I was using for our bread and olives (appetizers) was being taken away from me without any choice by the waiter because of the starters coming out to the table. I think the starters should have come out when the customer has finished the appetizers or at least ask. Other than that, everything else was absolutely amazing. We would highly recommend this restaurant. Tasty food and lovely restaurant
Nice laid back atmosphere with a friendly front of house staff. Mussels tasted great and would recommend. However I wouldn't recommend the lobsters as it is relatively small but on par with your regular lobster dishes.
Lovely restaurant with bright and alive atmosphere. Food was delicious and had a wonderful range of flavours. Pricing was okay too. The reason for 3 stars for me was the service. We went on Sunday for lunch and had a booking. Even then we were not greeted into the restaurant and had to wait for some time to be seated. Once seated we were quickly given water which was nice. However after taking our food order, it was around 50 minutes until our food arrived. I appreciate the restaurant was very busy but no one checked in on us in that whole time and there was no apologies for the delay. We felt like we had been forgotten about. The food is amazing so if you can go when it is quiet I recommend. However I feel like they may need more staff to deal with busier times and to accommodate customers if there is a delay.
Revised review. Used to have a rating of 5* in my book, but has recently taken a severe nosedive in quality, price and service. Outsider is generally a great place for lunch as the lunch menu is very affordable only about £8 per item. Previously I’ve been for lunch many times and the view is great and the food has been consistently good. In recent months, this lunch quality has dropped off and I would say it’s now pretty much just upmarket cafe food nothing wrong with this at the price point. What is inexcusable is the dinner service. After 5pm the dinner menu is the only thing that can be ordered from, and the prices take a 2 2.5x hike. The selection is actually worse than lunch and the portions are tiny for the price too (see the pan fried mallard my partner ordered, £18, was tasteless). I ordered a flat iron for a princely £23, the waitress asked for how I would like it cooked and I said rare it came well done. Overall was pretty uninspiring food it was just fine. It is absolutely not worth the price at all. Staff are not really that engaged, feeling more and more like they rush you in and out. Maitre d’ on some days is a lady that is not the most pleasant. Overall really disappointing nowadays. This restaurant has the most amazing view of the castle and has all the potential to be the best in Edinburgh. Nowadays its cafe food at best, charged at fine dining prices for dinner. Hope that they improve
This restaurant was booked on a whine and ended with the six course tasting menu, as I could not decide on all fabulous dishes. Each course was full of taste and perfectly balanced. The venison was the highlight for me, and is possibly one of the best dishes of food I had the pleasure to eat. The staff was very friendly and friendly and the mood was very cozy at a cold Scottish evening. Beloved, will be at the next visit to Edinburgh.
