Shirley's Coffee Diner - Annawan

Walked up, saw signs for multiple businesses, and were confused as to which door was for which. Even after figuring out which was the tavern and which was the diner, tried both, which opened, but lights were off, and no one inside. Open schedule outside said it should be open, and it wasn't locked, yet didn't see or hear a soul inside. Felt off. Nice bathrooms though. Sorry we couldn't try your food Shirley, we tried.

Is this place closed for good? It wasn't open at 11AM on 9/14/21, despite what Google says.When you find it closed, head downtown to The Purple Onion, an excellent local diner.

The year is 2021. Please update your internet information.it cost me more than $9 to stop and find out that you all are not open for breakfast any longer.

Staff pleasant. Kitchen very slow. Only 6 people (3 parties of 2) we waited over 20 min for a chef salad panini. Lettuce was becoming limp as does old pre-cut lettuce. Panini was delicious beef brisket with horseradish cram sauce. I'd go back to eat that alone

Stopped today as it was the 1st time for my mom to eat IN a restaurant since Covoid started. Diner was empty at lunch, most likely due to virus. When I went in to get a menu, waitress wasn't wearing mask. No paper menu I could take. I took laminated menu out to car so Mom could look at it. She ordered a Panini (first one don't recall name) I ordered the chef salad. The beef panini with horseradish cream sauce was STELLAR! However, my chef salad left a lot to be desired. Lettuce was aging pre cut bagged salad. To say a good part of lettuce was ready for the garbage is true. Who wants limp lettuce? Wait time on food was absurd. When we ordered there were 6 people in restaurant 2 who arrived when we did, and 2 more after us. Regardless, wait for food over 20 min! Obviously, not a short order cook in the kitchen. Can't recommend chef salad, but the panini oh yes! The waitress was quite nice once people came in, she wore a mask. So, no issues there. We did tell her about lettuce. Hopefully it was changed out. Suggestions: put sign on door with phone number to call so people don't wait in a line. Have restaurant call patrons when their table is ready. Restaurant needs to control seat, not the patron! Will I go back? YES! The Panini alone guarantees a 2nd chance!
