The Big Salad - Ann Arbor

The salads are really big here and the ingredients are fresh. I recommend to them to create their own salat instead of ordering one of their standards. I ordered a standard, but my friend created it herself, and she was much better. we haven't tried the sandwiches yet.

Salad and Salad Maker were great. Enjoyed the salad and soup. Maker was pleasant, courteous, and didn't mind my changes to a pre designed salad. Checkout, however, had major issues! She sets cups, rim side down, on a counter that shows hundreds of finger/hand prints (GROSS). My friend didn't get her roll, and when she tried to tell the girl, she ignored her, and never provided it (my friend eventually gave up and walked away). A customer had issues with a transaction, and the girl stood there, staring at the register, like it would fix itself (instead of communicating with the customer or getting help from a coworker). Horrible customer service from checkout. All other customer service seemed stellar. Checkout may want to reconsider her career choice.

This was my first visit. I ordered the Club . Nice that the nutrition facts were displayed for the soups, I ordered a cup of the chicken noodle. The food prep servers were very nice and helpful. My food was to go and when I got back to the office, I was surprised how small the salad was for $8. I also notice that weird smell you get from fast food salads sometimes, I don 't know if it is due to food preservative or what, but I did not enjoy it. The soup was a bummer because it was so salty. It looked like it would have been good if not for that. It was an expensive lunch $12) for small salad and cup of soup, especially when it was disappointing. Also there should be more than one door. People have to wait to leave if someone is coming in.

The menu is expansive and the food decent. The soda machine has unique options with real cane sugar. The store is clean but rather bottle-necked at the entrance. It was entirely empty when I visited and the staff seemed disinterested or tired, and there was only one. I enjoyed it but am not necessarily eager to return!

Advertised as healthy , it 's really just a more expensive version of SUBWAY with lower quality ingredients. The salad is only good if it 's doused in dressing. The meats and cheeses are nearly flavorless. The bread is hard and tough. If you want good food for similar prices, go to Songbird across the lot.
