Café Mequeni - Angeles

Reasonably priced buffet. Fine ingredients and simple yet elegant decor and ambiance. Food selection is passable but nothing spectacular. Overall a nice dining experience

Sunday buffet Mequeni Live, 8:15pm. Next to no one there eating. Lots of staff and chefs hanging around but no one attending buffet items or doing much of anything other than clearing your finished plates. Did not see anyone change out 1 dish in over an hour and all the pre-cooked items looked and tasted like they were sitting there since opening. I think the theme is supposedly pick some items and they'll cook it up live and fresh but I didn't see this happen at all. Overall confusing and bad concept. For Php1,250 per person I expect a lot more for my money. A Sunday night and not even a carving station other than a pork loin that looked dried out and shriveled up, oh and not even a knife there to cut yourself a piece if you wanted to hack away at it. The atmosphere is great and the dining room is decorated nicely, some of the deserts were good. This place was much better food-wise when it was the old Holiday Inn. I went to the new Marriott just down the road after they had closed their buffet (similar price) and the left over scraps they hadn't cleared yet looked better than what was being served up at Mequeni at 8'ish on a Sunday night. Clark deserves better and with bigger and better hotels open and coming (Hyatt/Hilton) I think Mequeni will be forced to make big changes to compete. My advice without having tried it yet: check out the Marriott buffet before choosing to spend your money here.

I chose this restaurant by looking at the reviews to celebrate my friend’s birthday. The foods were mediocre, except for the salad choices. The restaurant itself was nice clean as it’s a part of the hotel. The wait staffs were nice very helpful especially our server Kyle. I wouldn’t say I won’t come back, but I’d like to give it another shot next time, maybe not the buffet but dinner.
