Oriental Express - Anchorage

I had heard that this is the best Chinese restaurant for takeout in Anchorage, and although I was a bit hesitant to give it a try, I ended up being pleasantly surprised!

I hesitated to write this review, but since I've tried the place, I figured I might as well share my thoughts. If Panda Express is your favorite (and I do crave it sometimes), keep in mind that it doesn't really offer authentic Chinese cuisine...

I was served undercooked chicken, and when I brought it to their attention, they actually blamed me for ordering it. If your cooks can’t prepare it properly, why is it even on the menu?

The food was a bit greasy, but still tasty and served nice and hot! They were able to get our three dinners to us in a short amount of time. The customer service was very helpful, and they seemed eager to please, even though they weren’t sure if they could accommodate my Samsung. (It worked out well! I really enjoyed the almond chicken! The orange dish was also delicious, but after several bites, it became a bit too sweet.)

That was possibly the worst Chinese food I've ever had. I tried the lunch combo 8 today (orange chicken and spicy sesame chicken), and I was left very disappointed. The fried rice was bland and barely had any flavor. The orange chicken was more tangy than sweet, which was the only redeeming quality of the dish. The sesame chicken didn't taste like sesame at all. The sauce was poorly distributed, leaving me with large pieces of chicken that weren't coated in it. I'm quite disappointed to say that Panda Express serves better orange chicken than this place. Overall, that was a waste of $11.
