The food was delicious. I have celiac disease and they were able to accommodate my dietary needs. However, as someone with celiac disease, I cannot consume food that has come into contact with surfaces previously used with wheat products, such as wooden platters. I had to ask for my pizza to be remade and served on a plate instead of a wooden platter. They quickly remade my pizza and it was delicious.
We walked in with no reservations on a busy Saturday and sat at overflow bar seats. Food and wine was quite delicious and our server was friendly and helpful.
Great spot for a predictably good meal. Pizza Salad for $21 is an amazing price for what you get! Recently had the Truffled Mushroom Pizza with the La Bella Vita Salad scrumptious lunch with leftovers for the next day : Salad was full of goodies and the big chunks of brie on the pizza were decadent. Keep up the great work chefs!
We ordered appetizers and a main. I ordered Calamari Fitti, one of the most classic Italian summer seafood dishes. It should have been crispy, it wasn't. It was as though it had been boiled. The batter was soggy, and falling off. An indication that the oil wasn't hot enough. One of my friends ordered Bruschetta, this should have been toasted bread, topped with tomatoes, parmesan cheese, garlic, and fresh basil. It was a slice of rock, topped with tomatoes and basil soaked in balsamic. The ladies ordered soups, which were OK. Halfway through eating the appetizers, two of the mains arrived, Lasagnas. With insufficient room on the table, and an unwillingness to bolt our appetisers so we could dive right into the mains, the waitress took them back to the kitchen. We finished our appetizers, and the mains reappeared. The Lasagnes were huge but were lukewarm, and soggy. I ordered pappardelle bolognese. It was barely warm, the pasta was overcooked and the bolognese was a combination of a sloppy joe in tomato paste smothered with ricotta. My wife ordered gluten-free penne, which arrived mushy (way overcooked) and lukewarm. It went back, only to be replaced by a properly cooked hot penne, that the kitchen served upon plain, with no sauce. about it, the waitress said the chef forgot the sauce because of the rush. The restaurant was half-empty!! The bills arrived and were split to reflect the two couples. The bills were both incorrect, with the drinks on the wrong ones. At nearly $100 for this meal, I would say it was around $90 overpriced. We could have got a better meal from the frozen food aisle in a cheap supermarket. There are far better Italian restaurants in Ontario, in fact, I would go as far as to say, IMHO there are probably no worse ones in Canada. Avoid this place like the plaque. It deserves to be on Kitchen Nightmares.
