Contribuiți la feedbackWe stopped in here twice for falafel gyros because they were so good! We stopped once after a hike for these gyros to go and determined these to be fresh, hot and tasty. The price was also very reasonable. This led us to go back the next day for the exact same thing! The man who helped us was very friendly. They do fountain sodas to go as well which is nice. Can't wait to go back again!
If you have read my reviews, I love anything Levantine, Mediterranean and Greek. The only reason I have not been a regular at the Greek Isles was because the price to value ratio wasn't there. Even though I absolutely loved their souvlaki gyros, I could not see paying 16 dollars for one and that was at least 5/6 years ago! Even knowing this, we were craving souvlaki and did not have the gumption to make it ourselves. We loaded up their menu and too my surprise, the prices were reasonable! Fifteen minutes later we were picking up souvlaki gyros and falafel. The takeout service was great but it was takeout, so this review is about the food, not the service. Falafel is something that is easy to get wrong. If you have not had dry falafel, it is likely the closest thing you can get to a human version of dry dog food! The verdict. Their falafel was very good. It came with tzatziki which was good, but, tasted like they added a bit of off the shelf Greek seasoning with a touch of cinnamon. Not bad, but not what I was expecting. I did love the fresh dill and while it had a garlic like heat, that heat came without much garlic flavor. My personal preference is tzatziki with a where the garlic is definitely pronounced. The gyro came loaded with the same tzatziki and it was a bit overloaded with it! Due to that, I was not terribly crazy about the gyro. The other thing I found a little off was that the chicken in the gyro seemed diced then cooked in a skillet rather than true souvlaki style, aka, threaded on a stick and grilled. Even saying that, I will be back. It was good and I really enjoyed the falafel.
I really like this place a lot. I'm picky about my Greek food and they make the grade in my opinion. It's just so hard to order and try other things when you find a few things you really like you don't want to take a risk and try something new and miss out on something you already know will be good. The souvlaki is great, the gyros are great my husband has even had great spaghetti here. The decor is a little over the top, older and dated but the restaurants is clean and the service nice. Pricing is a little bit up there so we don't go as often as we'd like but enjoy the times we do!
What a nice surprise! We were told we had to try this restaurant and they were right. Make sure you call for reservations though. The service from the minute we walked in was exceptional. We tried two appetizers; the Dolmades which were stuffed with seasoned ground meat and rice topped with a wonderful lemon sauce, hot and delicious! We also had the Flaming Saganaki Cheese. They brought to the table and poured brandy on top and flambeed it. With a slight sweet flavor and the fresh squeezed lemon on top was amazing. I had the side Greek salad which was dressed well with cucumbers and feta cheese with crisp lettuce and fresh tomatoes. Only one olive, would have liked more. My husband had the chicken soup which was good, for me the salad was the better choice. For dinner I chose something different the Mousaka which is baked eggplant, zucchini and a spiced ground beef with veggies, rice and a potato. It was really full of meat that had that sweet, cinnamon/all spice flavor. The eggplant was wonderful and it was cooked perfectly. My husband had the lamb shank and it was excellent! Tender and moist, a light gravy on top. Said it was the best meal he has had in Anacortes. We have had many excellent meals here so that says a lot. It was really good and I highly recommend it. If you are looking for something different this is the place. The service from the staff was exceptional and they all worked together at every table. Unique and exceptional we will be back soon!
Stopped in for a few drinks and Greek salads. Excellent customer service and a great outside seating area. The outside seating is street side under a grapevine trellis that had fresh grapes growing all around. We had a few drinks, the hummus and tzatziki appetizer and some salads for a late lunch. I chose the calamari over the salad, it was ok. We enjoyed some coffees after lunch and the waiter brought us out a lemon custard type dessert. The coffee is worth a try, very strong. It's a great spot to have a lunch after Anacortes sight seeing.
