Relais De Provence - Ampuis

We just stopped when we saw the restaurant sign on the awning in front of the hotel. We didn't expect much but were just looking for a quick simple lunch. The waitress whose English was limited sat us on the patio and gave us menus in French. Ampuis is a small town and I doubt that they get a lot of Americans stopping by but my wife saw foie gras on the menu and that was it. She was sold. The other customers were locals except for the couple next to us who were on vacation from northern France. They heard our English and tried to communicate with us asking us where we were from and suggesting local wineries. The restaurant was definitely for locals and on the plain side but the food was very good and very reasonable in price. We left feeling almost as though we were locals.

Nice discovery. nice entrance, well maintained flat. but, cold room, and no mask (when we wear it, we're not comfortable as no one has it, no boss, no waitress, no customers) and no sanitary pass. Too bad.

A very good reception and very friendly .... a traditional cuisine copied and excellent ... I recommend
