Was a little concerned when we showed up here as it was very quiet, apart from a small group of locals with a drink. We sat politely on a table and menus. After the order, the ice was broken a little like us, in a typical British way, to order our food in broken French. The staff turned out to be very friendly and eager to make us welcome. The menu was much smaller than anywhere else we were, but when our food arrived, it was cooked for perfection. It is better to offer less, but do it well. Simple, unfussy, but delicious food.
We were literally happy by arriving at 13:00; the sun was outside; the tables were not all taken and the boats came and went along the canal and waited for the locks to open and close. Our waitress smiled and served us as fast as she could handle many customers. It was a Thursday noon. There were 3 carriages of people inside for their lunch and most were also dancing. That's a guinguette and it was so funny to watch. Steak Wetare for my partner and I had the beef stew dish with a house red wine and then cream brulee. It was the right time, the right place, the right weather, the right location for a very pleasant lunch. Delightful setting through the castles ecluses and you can there by car, bus or bicycle.
Very disappointed with that guinguette. For 35€ zero meals. The elders will never come back to the dirty toilet.
All right. Country evening with an excellent catering group. I recommend this place
