The Spice Thai Cuisine - Ames

The food here is very good, but even though they weren't busy there was a long wait to get a table, and then a long for our food. The hostess said it was because they only had one server ? but poor planning on their part doesn't excuse poor service to paying customers. There were 3 other employees standing around doing nothing but chit-chatting and looking at their phones and I don't see why they weren't helping the supposedly overworked server.

Very nice staff. Food was great. Price is a touch high otherwise all in all good food and nice people

Service was great both times I went to The Spice. The first time I went, I ordered pad Thai. It was so bland as to be almost tasteless. Not what you expect from Thai food. Still, I thought maybe it was a one off and so I held a work meeting there, this time ordering the red curry. Again, very, VERY bland and certainly not a spice to be found anywhere in the dish. If I’m getting Thai food, I expect both heat and flavor, not this bland excuse for Thai. Service was good, but if you are a Midwest native who actually likes spicy, this is not it.

The service was great! Our server ran his butt off. We had a group of 28 and the cook I am sure tried but couldn't keep up with the demand. Several of us got our food and finished before the rest even got an appetizer. Some of the food even tasted burnt and off. The seafood fried rice was under spiced and very bland. If I am ever in Ames gain I may give them a second chance.

The staff offered terrible service and not accommodating at all.
