Brasserie de la Loire - Amboise

We highly recommend this Brasserie for the true local experience. The food was just perfect and there is a good selection of drinks.

My husband and I popped into the brasserie de la Loire for lunch on a cool October day. Cozy space. The staff very friendly. Delicious classic French meals. My husband had the plat du jour- Coq Au Vin and I had quiche.

We had lunch here yesterday. The restaurant is a short walk away from all the tourist traps next to the chateau, and subsequently not overrun by tourists. The menu was imaginative and the food very flavoursome. Our mains of carrot blini with fillets of fresh...trout (burger style) were excellent and filling, although we did manage to push down a dessert of homemade nougat ice cream each, which was also very good. The lady who served us was very helpful and friendly. The price was good. We would definitely eat here again if in Amboise. Highly recommended.

We came here after doing a castle tour in the morning, as others on TripAdvisor had said it was kid friendly with good food. They weren't kidding! The food was fantastic. Very authentically French, though if you've got picky eaters in your group (including kids),...you will have plenty of options that are approachable for just about everyone. And they were just absolutely so nice about serving our kids. This is a family run place and it shows. Having been to Paris, Nimes, Barcelona, San Sebastian, and Bordeaux with our kids on this particular trip, I can say hands down this was the first place that actually seemed to ENJOY serving our kids rather than simply enduring them (they're well behaved but they do things like change their minds about which flavor of ice cream to get in the middle of ordering, and some places just can't seem to handle that). If you're visiting the Loire Valley and want a great French meal, make sure to put this place on your list.

This is why I love this site. I would have walked right past this brasserie if it weren't for the reviews on here. Delicious, home cooked, fresh and seasonal food, excellent service and very reasonably priced. My husband and I had the menu du for courses and for two courses).
