Mac's Downtown - Alton

I was disappointed with the chicken Alfredo; it was quite dry and lacked the creaminess I expected. I've had it before and it was much better. On a positive note, the server was excellent, and the atmosphere was decent. The onion rings were enjoyable, but one of them was undercooked and had raw flour, which I shared with my wife's coworker. As for the burgers, they were just average—nothing special. The food overall was underwhelming for our group of seven. On the bright side, they do offer off-track betting here if you're a fan of horse racing.

1. Smashed fruit placed next to shrimp 2. Rubber-like shrimp swimming in juices that splashed onto the fruit 3. Scrambled eggs with an unappealing texture 4. Flavorless sausage 5. Bacon that was only good and crispy about 50% of the time 6. Eggs Benedict that had hardened from sitting out too long 7. Gravy with a strange fishy taste 8. Prime rib that was extremely fatty and lacked flavor 9. Staff only brought drinks once; we eventually had to go to the bar ourselves for more. Overall, I would not recommend this place.

We love Mac’s!! The atmosphere, the workers, the food.. it’s all so good! I love to hang out and grab supper with the kids, or do an adult night without the kids! Either way, always guaranteed a great time and experience! Ps.. chicken ceaser salad is the best I’ve ever had!!

I discovered this place on Facebook and finally decided to give it a try. The atmosphere was enjoyable; you seat yourself, and there's plenty of space. Some seating is outdoors, which is a nice touch. The service was just okay, as we had to wait a bit before anyone came to assist us. They mentioned there was a mix-up regarding which waitress was assigned to our section, but that was manageable. As for the food, it was decent. I ordered the garlic wings, which turned out to be a bit too greasy and lacked enough garlic flavor. The monster BLT was fine, but it could definitely use better-quality bacon. Overall, it wasn't bad. Oh, and I also tried the pepper jack cheese balls, which were quite good!

Just door dashed lunch to my office and it was phenomenal. the BYOB build your own burger was top notch! Best quality burger I've had around the area.
