Recomendo.
I am surprised by the unfavourable reviews of this little slice of paradise! We came in for a full day of working…arrived late morning, and greeted with such warmth that we stayed the whole day into evening! We spent the morning/afternoon working and were very well-catered for with drinks and a wonderful lunch of fresh salads, beautifully presented. The staff were wonderful and the atmosphere is divine…I would say ‘rustic elegance’. Not to mention that there is short walkway down to the beach which is absolutely glorious.
Unfortunately, the other reviews are accurate the service at this beach lounge is pretty much non existence. When I arrived at Casablanca Beach Lounge (at the recommendation of my hotel in Lisbon), I was greeted by a young man that looked pissed off that a guest had arrived and he had to work. He did not smile, he did not say hello, all he said was do you know how this works? I told him it was my first time there and he informed me that it cost 50 Euro for an umbrella and lounge chair. Despite the high cost, I said ok and sat down. I never saw him (or any other staff member) again. After two hours, I started to get hungry so I went back to the young man and asked for a menu and placed an order for a sandwich and a cappuccino. After about 45 minutes, my cappuccino arrived cold. And then after waiting another 90 minutes, I flagged him down and inquired when I would be getting my sandwich. He looked at me like I was crazy even though it had been well over two hours since I placed my order. He then disappeared for another 30 minutes so I started to pack up my things to find another place to get lunch. When he saw me gathering my things to leave, he ran back over to me and told me I had to stay and pay for the sandwich (which still had not arrived) because otherwise the management would make HIM pay for it. I could not believe what I was hearing. In the end, rather than get into an argument with him, I paid him for the sandwich and left (without the sandwich). It was the worst service I received during my entire stay in Portugal and left me with a bad impression of the Portuguese people. There was no apology, no concern for me as a guest, nothing.
