Caffe Utopia - Alexandria

The vegetable platter at Ethiopian restaurants is always a hit, and this one was exceptional. It featured more protein than most, with two lentil dishes, a split pea dish, and a deliciously spicy chickpea dish. The service at this restaurant is excellent as well. It's clear they are eager to attract more customers, and Caffe Utopia deserves it with their delicious food and affordable prices.

I drove past Caffe Utopia on Christmas Eve for the first time and promised myself that if they were open on Christmas Day, I would place an order. To my delight, they were open, and I had the best experience as a vegan ordering takeout. I called to inquire about ordering through DoorDash or their website and spoke to Rachel, who I later learned was the owner. She was extremely helpful in ensuring that my order was vegan, even double-checking the wine selection to make sure it met my dietary requirements. When a coworker mentioned mead (honey wine), Rachel quickly corrected them and informed me that it was not vegan-friendly.

We walked in and were welcomed immediately, taking a table close to the bar. A few minutes to browse the menu was accompanied by the most delightful tropical themed music floating through the air that made the place feel exotic, along with the decor and color scheme. Enough about the ambiance; the food is what we're about, and a platter for the two of us did NOT disappoint! We ate until throwing in the towel, and enjoyed a nice honeyed wine that we were told was made on site, capping off a really enjoyable night. We will definitely be going back!Vegetarian options: It's Ethiopian food, so you are guaranteed a good selection of vegetarian choices.Parking: I'd say parking is pretty good; diners park right outside the restaurant, and we had no trouble with it.

This is my favorite Ethiopian place in the area! I love their awaze tibs.

This restaurant is fantastic. The service was top-notch and the food was absolutely delicious. We ordered the meat lovers platter with three different meats and two sides, which easily fed three of us with leftovers to spare. The restaurant was clean and had a nice atmosphere. We will definitely be returning in the future.
