Aldgate Chinese Restaurant

I like the food here, as it is fresh, tasty and offers a varied choice of different Asian cuisines. I enjoy the Chinese and Malaysian choices.

My wife and I had a very enjoyable meal with a banquette. The staff were terrific and we really enjoyed the food. Usual Australian/Chinese, which was just how we liked it.

The kids love us when we say we are getting Chinese. The honey chicken and lemon chicken always kick off in our house. Always love the food and the waiting time is prompt when an estimated time is given.

Went in for takeaway encouraged by the "reviews" on trip advisor. We ordered salt and pepper chicken, bok choy in garlic sauce, and fried rice. The food came out in about 15 minutes and smelled great. But once we got home we discovered how awfully wrong our noses can be. The first piece of "chicken" I got was just batter. The second piece the same. It was so tough I couldn't even finish chewing it. The fried rice was burnt and inedible. The bok choy had no taste and was limp and looked like it had been sitting out In the sun for a week. The total for this food was the most insulting part. $34.70 for food that I wouldn't feed my dog. We tried to call up the restaurant to complain but got an answering machine even though they said they were open for another 20 minutes. I raced down in my car to try and confront a staff member as they cleaned up but they had already locked up and left. This was less than 30 minutes after I had picked up my food. I strongly recommend avoiding this disgusting restaurant.

This is a place where you won't find gourmet cuisine but you will get good value traditional Australian Chinese food, served by pleasant and welcoming people and at a reasonable price. It is run by a family with the grandparents in the back cooking, daughter, Wing, running the front of house and the kids (who have grown up before our eyes over the years) doing their homework at a back table. Totally great for an alternative to cooking for the evening.
