When we came to town I wanted to eat some authentic Mexican food. This was probably the best choice I could have made. The place is smaller and always busy but man they did not disappoint. Hands down best food I've ever eaten. Nothing else I've ate since hits the spot. I think about how good it was at every meal now. My youngest daughter felt the same way. If we ever go back to Albuquerque this place is top of the list. You have to go here. And get green chilli sauce! I was visiting from Los Angeles and love Oaxacan food, which is different than the typical Mexican restaurant you may find in most parts of the southwest. We dined here this evening with a group of 9 and were able to put some of the tables together. Food came out fairly quickly and service was great. Everyone was friendly and spoke Spanish and English with us. I ordered the enchiladas with three types of moles, and it was a good amount where the enchiladas were not soggy, but I had plenty of mole sauce to mix with my rice and beans (or use the chips for . We also caved and had the cheesecake. Even though it's not a traditional dessert, it was still a good piece of cheesecake. It's no wonder they won second place at a food competition in Chicago representing New Mexico, since the moles and the birria quesadillas were stellar. I've tried several types of moles in Los Angeles at many acclaimed Oaxacan spots, and none of them have a spicy mole that is like what this family makes. It has heat that builds slowly, so be prepared, but it's one of the best moles I have had. The mole negro and coloradito were also wonderfully savory and sweet.
