The food was great and large portions. deff get your money worth. staff was very friendly.

Been in here a few times since my son and I have moved back to the area. Today was his first time going in with my girlfriend and I. To start, I want to say that up until today, the food and service has been great. We got a late start today, and decided to head in to get a late breakfast. Upon entering we spied the daily lunch specials listed, and changed our minds. Especially since the Patty Melt was one of them, being a personal favorite of mine. Now I have ordered their Patty Melt before, and it was great. And given to me just as the menu described. Today however, this was not the case. When our server, whom was not one of the regular girls that had waited on us previously (in fact I believe her to be either related or married to the owner whom I know to be the brother of Benny, the former owner/operator of the Tuscany restaurant which used to be located on the Centerville square) anyway when she brought me my food, it was served on Texas toast rather than the traditional marbled rye as it is described on their menu. When I asked her why this was, she told me that it was because it was “on special.” I almost sent it back and ordered something else, but not wanting to make a fuss, and bring very hungry, I decided to just go ahead and eat it anyway. It wasn’t very good, but whatever it served it’s purpose. My son’s and girlfriend’s food was fine and I was happy enough with that. That is until I went up to pay. At the register I found one of the regular waitresses whom I’ve met before, and I inquired as to whether or not the specials, in particular my Patty Melt, were made differently when they were “on special.” She informed me that in fact they were not, and my food had been served incorrectly. I informed her that my sandwich had tasted more like a grilled cheese with a burger slapped on it, and she apologized for it even though it was not her fault. It was clear to me that I had been lied to. I don’t think there is any excuse for this. My only recourse was not to leave a tip because, as I said, I wasn’t there to make a fuss. Upon taking our leave, I overhead another customer asking his waitress why his Patty Melt was served the same way. As he, like I, had ordered one there before and hadn’t been informed of any change when ordering it. The last thing I heard as I turned to walk out the door was what I assumed to be the head waitress telling the others that if something was being prepared differently than normal, that it should be stated on the daily specials sign. I know I wished it had been because I definitely would have stuck with my original order and got the Denver Omelette!

The food was really good. and the waitress was such a good one. always on top of everything for us and very personable.

My daughter and I were passing through, and decided to stop to eat. The food is delicious! Every single bite! Our server, was so friendly and sweet. She was perfect! Best server ever! Two travelers from Kansas definitely recommend the Highway Restaurant!

I ordered takeout for myself, my mother, and brother. Unfortunately, they forgot my brother's order and the cheeseburgers were overcooked.
