Expresso & Cie - Albi

We went to this cafe based on the Tripadvisor reviews and the fact that it is supposed to be a proper coffee shop. We arrived just as it had started to rain so went to sit inside rather than at the outside tables. The café is very small inside and the counter is right inside the door. We noticed on arrival that there wasn’t much food on offer. There were a few pieces of cake under a plastic dome and some pre-packaged ‘Byron Bay’ cookies. As it was raining we didn’t want to trawl around town so decided this would suffice. The man behind the counter (presumably the owner) didn’t acknowledge us so we sat down and looked at the coffee menu. As he never moved and started looking at his phone we assume we had to order at the counter. Over we went and ordered in our best French ‘deux cafés allongés, s’il vous plait'. The man behind the counter looked over and simply said ‘non’. We were speechless for a few seconds thinking perhaps he hadn’t understood. We then tried saying ‘deux cafés americanos, s’il vous plait’. The response was again a simple ‘non’. At this point the rudeness of the man was evident so we pondered leaving, but the rain deterred us from doing that. In the end what we were able to order was two espresso’s (maybe that is all he can make for tourists) and two pieces of slightly stale cake. From time to time you get this kind of attitude in France, fortunately it is rare. How these small business owners expect to attract custom with this type of attitude is beyond us. Obviously customer service is not in this man’s repertoire. We can only guess he isn’t that bothered about profit.Would we recommend this café….’non’, ‘non’, ‘non’.

Une adresse à ne pas rater! Comme toute balade en ville qui ce respecte un petit détour s'impose au café "expresso & cie" pour ce réchauffer avec de délicieuses boissons chaude ou bien ce désaltérer avec les boissons fraîches préparer au moment! En bref il faut s'y rendre !

Carte variée, produits de qualité et le patron est très sympa. Bon endroit pour démarrer la journée. Je recommande le smoothie fruit exotique qui est délicieux !!

Un large choix de cafés qui comblera les amateurs avertis ou non. Que du très bon café qu'il soit chaud ou glacé, le chocolat chaud est divin, les thés raffinés.Le patron est un connaisseur et il partage volontiers son amour du métier. Il est intarissable sur le sujet qu'il maîtrise à la perfection.
