I had high hopes after reading the rave reviews, but unfortunately, my experience was disappointing. The fish was just average, the chips were crinkle-cut and nearly overcooked, and the squid, priced at $1 each, were tiny, measuring less than 20mm. The oysters were overcooked as well, leaving them dry and chewy. I expected much more from a seaside fish and chip shop.

I have known Merv since 1986, and he has always been connected to the fishing industry, as the locals in Akaroa will tell you. He was once a fisherman himself, with his own boat named Helena.
