Sushi T&T Japanese Restaurant - Ajax

Been going here for 15 years at this point, and the sushi has only gotten better. This is my favourite place for a quiet lunch. There is a wide range of rolls and nigiri available at lunch, with even more options (including sashimi) at dinner. Everything is made with care, and the sushi itself is nicely balanced with particular care given to the sushi rice. Many of the other restaurants in Durham seem ham handed in their treatment of the rice, with poor seasoning or densely pressing the rice into almost a paste (I'm looking at you, Sushi Today), but Sushi T&T's rice is delicate and balanced. Their hot items are also expertly made. Would absolutely recommend this place. Honestly, most of the people I've seen complaining in reviews or in restaurant just don't know quality.

This is a staple sushi restaurant for me and my boyfriend. I really love this place. Been to a lot of sushi places and by far this is place IS THE BEST. Aside from the sushi, beef fried rice is really good.

The environment was cozy and felt very local, but despite my eagerness to enjoy it admittively that didn't happen because the sushi rice just wasn't good . With such a critical foundation being subpar it's hard seeing myself trying this place out again despite it being such a noted staple in the community. Service was ok, portion sizes were good. I still recomend trying the restaurant out if curious, I know there are many locals that swear by it it might just not be my cup of tea. Important to note that parking can get a little awkward at times, but there are neighbouring lots that are easier and overall more convenient to access during times with busier traffic.

It has been over four years since my last visit. Food has been consistently great! They have the best seafood salad and unagi sushi I have ever had. Service is excellent too. The girl that served us is super patient and attentive. They have a lot of take out orders. It’s understandable that some items may take slightly longer to come out. But one should set the right expectation! It’s a mom and pop shop, not a franchise restaurant. I will definitely visit again soon! Times like this it’s important to support local small businesses.

June 2023. After several years of eating there, I'm finally leaving a review. This is the top Japanese restaurant in Ajax. The food is cooked fresh, fast, and delicious. I don't know who the cook is, but damn everything they cook is delicious. The young waitress I admire for her hard work and usually works alone. When busy, please have a little patience, or if you don't, go when it's less busy. Our top 3 favorites are the tempera shrimps, chicken fried rice (simple but man, it's #1 in my books globally so far), and avocado salad. If there is a con, their place is a little small. Their food is worth the price ?
