Website says that ajax location is until 10, but when I got there at 9:10, place is closed already. This happens every night. Too bad, food is good.
The most aweful oxtail I have ever had in my life. They put some kind of extremely sweet bbq sauce. No taste of tradition island spices. Just wasted $15 on a take out food.
Went for a late snack/meal around 9:00 p.m. My experiences with most places that serve it, the jerk pork was all finished for the day. If it sells out all the time then prepare more! To me it is a form of bait and switch that happens with certain restaurants-you're there anyway so you might as well get something else from the menu so no sales lost just my choice of item.Jerk chicken, rice and peas and the two forks of coleslaw the little container held. Place is small-seats 6 total for eat in but most people would take out anyway as witnessed during our meal. Although the staff spoke and carried on like they were recent arrivals from the Caribbean-all good mind you, the food tasted quite generic. Not saying it was bad but nothing special probably due to the fact that it is a chain restaurant with specific guidelines for seasoning and preparing everything. Service was friendly and pleasant as I would expect in an place serving Caribbean food. Price was ok but there was more rice than needed but that's cheap and it fills the container so...they pile it in there.Would return but will try earlier to get the menu item of my choice-they get one more chance!
Got my Jerk pork but that was probably because it was early in the day-lunch time. There were quite a few pieces of meat and it was ok. I expected a lot more spice and flavour but it is what it is in a chain restaurant. Rice and peas, little coleslaw and a drink for about $11. The food was decent and filling-lots of rice and peas, but to me-a Caucasian Canadian no less, it lacked the flavour and spices I associate with Caribbean food and certainly bland when compared to other authentic restaurants. Will return again but it's down the list of options.
