Sorrento Restaurant and Bar

We came here early on a Friday night without a booking but they still had a few tables available for walk ins for the upstairs deck. They have a great view of the airlie beach bay and marina. The service was great but the food didn't quite meet our expectations and was quite expensive for what you got. The scallops were rubbery and the meat was too oily. However the oysters, bug and prawns were delicious. I would come again but for the pizza or pasta as the other mains are too overpriced. Plenty of parking nearby or easy to get to walking on the board walk.

This restaurant has views to die for - overlooking both the sparkling Coral Sea and the Abell Point Marina! It has a large outdoor dining area and is a very relaxing place to dine! Food was excellent and will definitely return!

We grabbed lunch at Sorrento when visiting Airlie Beach on the weekend. The place was quite packed so we did have to wait some time for our meals, but this is understandable. The bowl of hot chips ordered for our boy probably took a lot longer they should have, however they were very tasty. Not your average plain old chip. A great venue with great service and million dollar view

Was dreading writing this review as we loved Airlie beach but this restaurant ruined it for us. To start with we booked a table outside we were sat as close to the door as possible on the side where all you could here were the strained voices of the kitchen singing away to a different song that was being played in the restaurant. All the other tables closer to the edge were "reserved" for who I do not know as no one sat there for all the time we were there and there certainly weren't people queuing up when we left!The starters are the reason I have given this place 2 stars they were delicious and to be fair the pizzas that came out looked good (but how hard is it to cook a pizza?).The problems we had were seemingly endless for what was supposed to be a nice night out. The main my crab spaghetti didn't have more than 2 tiny bits of crab in so not great but also the sauce was bland and just tasted of nothing. My partner had the steak his potatoes were under cooked, how I have no idea as they we so thin. The steak over done. The biggest problem was nobody asked us if our food was ok so we couldn't tell them in. In fact after waiting for a good 15/20 for them to clear our plates we gave up. They even cleared the tables that were empty as people had left before coming to is. We decided not to waste any more of our time so got up and went to the bar to pay. We explained our problems as listed above and all the lady could say is "I'm sorry about that, how would you like to pay cash or card?" REALLY!! I was so cross by this point I asked if there was not a discount or something she could over and she said I can give you 10% who was your waitress! Need I say anymore the waitress messed up but the lady who we paid was the most insulting. I have eaten in lots of restaurants and trust me this is well worth a miss. If you are desperate to watch the sunset in a bar just get a drink!!
