We had the menu with a Degustation of three starters: gazpacho, paté and pork with sauteéd veggies. Wonderful fresh bread. The fish with vegs and potatoes were delicious, and the deserts (Tarte tatin and dark chocolate cream cake were heavenly good. The recommended local wine (Refuge d'amour who needs anything else? just lovely. It was busy but not crowded, and really nice to sit outside under the old brick arches. Reservation not really necessary but recommended in weekends. Not to miss when visiting Agen!
Out of this world, top class restaurant! Service was excellent and very friendly. Food was delicious and plentiful. Would highly recommend
Situated under a portico just off the main shopping street. Lots of outside tables. We had a short list of places to eat on our only evening (a Wednesday) in Agen. We were checking this one out about an hour before opening. Given the range of choice on the menu we decided to end our search here. They open at 19:00 so we booked a table for 19:15. We were glad we did because they were turning people away at 20:00. For starters we had the salad with Roquefort and the cold vegetable stew. Portions are generous and very tasty. There was no skimping on the Roquefort in my salad! For mains my companion had the veal steak, which was declared to be delicious. I can vouch for the mushroom sauce. The veal was an inch thick, on the bone. Tender and very tasty. I had the chicken stew with langoustines. It comes in a large casserole pot. The sauce was delicious. There is no wine list. We opted for white wine. The waiter brought two. One in a pichet and one in a bottle. Both were local, he said. The pichet more local than the bottle. He got us to taste both and then to choose. Though it was the cheaper of the two, the pichet tasted nicer. Service was quick and very friendly. We saw the same wine tasting process performed at other tables. Portions are generous. There is no pretension. It is honest local food. And it is clearly popular. Come hungry. Book a table. It is very good value. Highly recommended. We would definitely return if we were in the area.
Rustic French food with fresh ingredients as there are no fridge or freezer in the Restaurant (or so we were told. Service was quick and efficient and it gives you a chance to practise your French as staff has not got a lot of English. The set menu is excellent with some choices of main and dessert, but not the starter as it is a selection of small dishes. good local wine too. The place fills up very quickly at lunch time, so recommend that you get there shortly after 12 o'clock as it is only a small Restaurant.
Set in the centre cloister area of Agen lovely location for outdoor dining in shade. Very friendly and super efficient staff we chose from set lunch...15€ for 2 mini starters a main and dessert. Lots of intruiging twists in flavours. We especially enjoyed the porc roti in caramel sauce. Lovely bread and everything beatifully presented.Best recommendation was number of locals lunching here.
