It's a small welcoming place a short walk outside the Acquaviva historic center. We were there for lunch and the beautifully displayed prepared foods immediately caught my eye. I am sure this ample presentation would have provided a good lunch on the premises or as take-away. However, when we saw the very creative and delicious sounding menu, we opted for these selections. They have some really good wines to choose from. The red Primitivo the proprietor recommended from the cantina Trulle di Pezza was robust with berry notes. Not expensive, but a DOP designation nonetheless. The bread was rich tasting with a soft core displaying lots of holes indicating proper yeast and rising. The crust was crisp and dark brown. I knew we were off to a good start. My antipasto was baccala salted cod) with simple puree sauces. Perhaps a bit salty but just on the edge. My next course was grilled pieces of Angus beef over cime di rape a dark bitter green I love). The flavor comparison worked very well and the beef was cooked right to my specifications. My partner had Carpaccio of Beef that he very much enjoyed as I did when I asked for a taste). He followed that up with Polenta and Porcini Mushrooms. The polenta was solid and the two pieces were cut almost like a sandwich with the moist rustic mushrooms within. YUM! We were really satisfied with our lunch by this point and skipped dessert, only ordering coffee which continued this delightful meal. The proprietor couldn't resist bringing two complimentary, small homemade cannoli to the table. If these were any indication of their skill with dolce, I will surely order dessert on my next visit there. Service was excellent. This active kitchen is on full view to diners. The skill and concern they display is readily evident.

I was there for the first time with friends and we asked to taste most of the specialties listed on the menu. The food kept on coming till we had to say stop! Everything was really excellent, made with fresh local ingredients. We also had a chance to taste a wide variety of spirits coming from all over Italy and from abroad. Remember to reserve in advance because the dining area is very small!

Tempi d'attesa elevatissimi, eravamo in 7 e un'altro tavolo da 6 in tutta la sala, abbiamo chiesto della mozzarella su una portata e non c'era, mancavano altre portate del menù.... Prezzi eccessivi
