Realised that Midge Bite was indeed a cafe itself. Turned out it was perfect. Lovely leek potato soup, egg sandwich with proper bread, coffee really good and a thick slice of fruit loaf. Would be sure to be ready for a spot of lunch if we are in the area again.
The good: friendly staff, good selection of food, good quality, clean toilet, plenty of parking. The bad: uncomfortable chairs, can be quite busy and the place is small, very loud banging noise from the person in charge of the coffee making, fruit juice was about 80% ice (I normally say no ice , but didn 't expect this to be a thing in Scotland in winter). The ugly: as someone who is allergic to dogs I find it more and more difficult to go out for a meal, as everywhere is now dog friendly. I know the pressure from the dog lobby is enormous, and they leave bad reviews if you don 't allow dogs into a business. But if you have a sign on your door saying guide dogs only , then you should enforce this. Or if you do want to allow all dogs, then remove the sign from your door. As we had already ordered and were waiting for our food, we could not get up and leave when that large black dog came in. And it wasn 't the sort of food we could have eaten in the car anyway. I felt unwell for several hours after our visit, which pretty much ruined our afternoon. So please make it clear what your dog policy is, and then people with allergies can avoid going inside your cafe.
Quirky cafe, enjoyed a lovely breakfast early this morning. Good choice on menu. Staff are polite and friendly. Would highly recommend. Thanks ladies
Lovely people Lovely atmosphere Lovely coffee Lovely food Great location Coffee was spot on, food excellent, only worry is getting a seat as even out of season it can get busy
A very welcoming lunch stop en route to Shieldaig. Delicious, hot and tasty lentil soup. Gorgeous coffee. Very clean toilet. A really great little place. The cakes looked yummy but didn’t have any room!
