The Mac n Cheese was far different from other places but really good. I absolutely LOVE the key lime pie. I 100 percent recommend this place!!!
Taylor County Taphouse is a locally owned restaurant. We went at an off time and it was not very busy. We ordered drinks first and they were great! Very strong but great. The Ace Pear Cider was exceptionally good. Dry, fruity and delicious. The cinnamon orange Margarita was a strange combination but very good. The Tequila Mockingbird was good. Strawberry and Tequila was pretty good. Strawberry infused tequila gave a nice finish. Our last drink was The Gambler and it was the clear favorite. Forty Creek Whiskey and Grand Marnier with toasted orange. Sooo very great citrusy and boozy. The Satan’s Huevos were excellent. Deviled eggs topped with fried crawfish and a remoulade drizzle. Very tasty and would order again. The Low Country Shrimp and Grits wasn’t very good. It had way too many onions and scallions in the grits. I love silky smooth grits and these were not at all. The second dish we had was the Bat Out Of Hell Meatloaf. Best dish hands down! Two slices of meatloaf laying upon a bed of skin on mashed potatoes. We added broccolini to the side and while salty it paired well with the meat and potatoes. Lastly was the pulled pork sandwich. Smoky juicy goodness served with steak fries. The coleslaw which was more of an afterthought. Oily and strange. We then finished with 7 Layer Chocolate Cake and boy oh boy this was truly decadent without being too sweet or heavy. Next level great. The Bread Pudding was just okay nothing special. The staff was very good. No hovering but came around as needed. The atmosphere was comfortable and relaxed. Definitely comes recommended. We will be back.
In Love with this place! Incredibly massive beer menu. We only ate off the appetizer menu this time. (making room for the beer! Lol) The sausge plate was phenomenal. Definitely on my 'Go To ' list!
We 're from Dallas and we met a good friend of ours who lives in Abilene who highly suggested this place. And it was a home run. We had deviled eggs over a spicy remoulade topped with fried crawfish with jalapeño slices, ahi tuna crusted with bicolor seasame seeds and seared rare sliced on the bias served over a bed of Thai-vinaigrette-tossed lo mein noodles, dressed with edamame, avocado, watermelon radishes, and Spring onions, along with bacon wrapped quail, perfectly seasoned Brussels sprouts, along with copious amounts of local brew. By far above and beyond typical run-of-the-mill bar food, being that it is chef owned and operated. Speaking of which, the chef came over and spoke with us for a few minutes as well. Super sharp and with great people skills 'topped off ' no pun intended with his culinary talent. There will most definitely be a sequel here when were back in the area. ...
Great warm atmosphere, delicious food, ample beer selection, and very reasonable pricesServer was friendly and helpful.
