The Park Café - Aberdeen

A lovely, stylish cafe in Hazlehead Park. They host a lot of private events as well, including weddings, birthday parties and similar. When we visited on Sunday, they had 2 different soups and lots of cake options. Quite a few different tea flavours too!

I later noticed several families dining in the cafe area with their own food and thermoses, so I pointed this out to the staff member. It seemed that the rules didn’t apply to everyone; perhaps they were being picky with us because we are foreigners. If you’re thinking about bringing your own juice for your kids to enjoy at one of the empty tables at this café, be prepared to be treated very poorly. I have attached a photo showing the number of free tables at the time we were asked to leave.

The restaurant is situated in a stunning location, and the staff were delightful. However, we ordered a variety of sandwiches, and there were a few vegetarians in our group who were uncertain about which options were suitable for them. Additionally, the lentil soup we ordered was quite lukewarm.

After a while, I decided to grab my coffee and take it to a table, explaining that I wouldn’t leave until the transaction was confirmed. This reasonable action was met with a sour look and silence. Meanwhile, I checked my banking app and saw that the payment had gone through, and I needed to return to my kids. I went back to the register and informed the girl that my payment was completed, so I was leaving. Once again, I was met with a sour look and no response. To top it off, the coffee was bitter, and so was the staff’s attitude. What a shame.

Additionally, my wife's cheese and ham toastie was also cold, and she chose not to eat it. It's concerning to see from the other reviews that management seems unresponsive to customer complaints, which is unfortunate because the park itself is lovely. So, will we visit the park again? Absolutely! But we will definitely not be returning to the café. Next time, we’ll bring our own snacks. I sincerely hope the park's management reads our review and takes note of the others. The quality of food at Hazelhead Park Café is unacceptable, and I urge readers to take this as a warning and avoid dining there. The £38 we spent on lunch was not worth it; we felt it was a waste of money.
