Good coffee and several options of vegan banana bread. It is quite small, so it is not a cafe to stay for a longer time.
The coffee was very good, they have a large variety of hot beverages so its hard to decide! Also we tried 2 different kinds of banana bread which were both very good. I did not like so much that all banana bread slices were wrapped in plastic (Frischhaltefolie). The staff was nice, the inside seating was ok, but not super nice.
Das Essen ist sehr sehr lecker und es gibt eine riesige Auswahl an veganen Snacks. Die Mitarbeiter sind total nett und die Atmosphäre ist entspannt. Absolut empfehlenswert.
As a recent expat arrival in Aachen from Melbourne (coffee snob capital of the world!) my first priority was to find a decent cup of coffee. To my horror I discovered that the majority of cafes in Germany use a preset coffee machine and just press one button to make your coffee. No barista, no milk frother, nothing. I was so desperate I even went to Starbucks.I stumbled across this place quite coincidentally as it's close to my gym. Cafe Stopover is tucked away in Milchstrasse, which is a pedestrian-only street between Marienbongard and Pontstrasse. It's so tiny that it doesn't have a Google Map listing or even a website, but apparently it's been around since 2013!Anyway, this gorgeous little cafe has proper baristas, a proper coffee machine, and I can watch them actually froth my milk in front of me! The coffee itself is perfectly creamy and has the required strength to keep me going. Cost wise, they're quite decently priced - the prices for a latte macchiato (what we in Melb would normally call a Latte!) are as follows: small (primo) 2,20 euros, medium (medio) 2,70 euros, and large (massimo) 3,30 euros. If you think a large is quite overpriced - it's huge AND you get a double shot for free. My idea of heaven.I haven't eaten here yet but I know that they do a popular and pretty cheap (under 5 euro) burrito. I've also seen them make frozen yoghurt. For tea fans, they have little pots of tea leaves by the door so you can pick one - I even saw an Aachener Printen tea if you really want to get into the local spirit. The baristas are all friendly, even when your German is terrible, and will speak English to you if you're really struggling. This is a popular place with students from nearby RWTH university and always has a line out the door at lunchtime. It's also a great place to chill out, with deckchairs and tables out the front to watch the world go by in the afternoon sun.Lastly, this cafe is open EVERY DAY OF THE WEEK EVEN SUNDAY! Their hours aren't listed but from memory it's somewhere along the lines of 8am - 7pm.I 100% recommend this place, and just wish that I'd discovered it earlier. If you are dying for a decent coffee, fear not, Starbucks is no longer the only option in Aachen!
