Wán Fú Shí Táng - 竹田市

This is a famous restaurant in Takeo known for its chicken dishes. The interior has table and tatami seating, with no counter. There also seems to be seating on the second floor. They offer a wide variety of dishes from set meals to a la carte, but the popular dish seems to be the fried chicken set (thigh) for 780 yen. The fried chicken is crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, very delicious. It's also nice that you can serve yourself with unlimited rice. The chicken broth is also delicious, not just miso soup. Payment can be made with cash or PayPay. It's a non-smoking establishment with ashtrays near the entrance. There are parking lots in front of and across the road.

On Saturday afternoon, the restaurant was packed with many customers and the parking lot was full too! I was able to choose between chicken thigh and breast for the fried chicken dish, and the rice and pickles were refillable. Both the Marufuku set meal and the Chicken Nanban set meal were incredibly delicious.

Visited on 21/11/14. While walking down the main street in Taketa looking for dinner, I spotted this restaurant and decided to stop by. It has a local diner vibe and also offers takeout, which seems quite popular. I ordered the champon and toriten. The champon had plenty of ingredients and was quite delicious. The toriten had a salty flavor that was tasty on its own. The portions were quite large, so I asked if I could take the leftovers of the toriten home, and they kindly provided me with a container. It's always a happy feeling to stumble upon a nice restaurant while traveling and enjoy a delicious meal. I might come back for the champon again...

とり天定食を頂きました。 美味しい。 待ち時間が15分ほどありました。 ご飯お代わり自由。 お漬け物は欲しい方だけセルフでした。 値段が全体的に40円程あがってました。
