Normally, they offer a variety of side dishes, but due to the pandemic, they are only serving ramen and rice. That's exactly what I came for, so it was not a problem for me. The ramen comes in two choices: salt or soy sauce pork bone broth. I usually eat soy sauce pork bone ramen elsewhere, so this time I ordered the salt ramen. To my surprise, the ramen was rich and flavorful, topped with garlic chips and a generous amount of lard. After taking a sip of the soup, I thought, "This is pork bone broth, but it doesn't taste like the typical pork bone broth I'm familiar with. It's also different from the flavors of lard and garlic." The answer was on the wall - they boil not only pork bones but also beef bones and chicken bones together. That's why it has that unique taste. This flavor is truly one-of-a-kind, so I will have to come back to try the soy sauce ramen next time.
The restaurant Wakanawa Chinese noodles has a large parking lot, but the restaurant itself is small with only two tables and a counter. When entering, the staff will sanitize your hands with alcohol. The main menu consists of soy sauce and salted Chinese noodles. The Ma-yu (burnt garlic oil) was a great addition and added a flavor I really enjoyed.
First time visiting this restaurant! I tried the salted chashu ramen! It was rich and flavorful with a pork bone base! The fried onion and fried garlic were really good additions! There was a nice sweetness and gentle flavor to the broth. The noodles were medium straight. I would definitely like to visit again!
